Before taking the time to ask any reputable Maryland contractor for an estimate we strongly urge you to take the following steps:

1. Check Maryland Law websites to see if there are any pending lawsuits against the contractor. You may use the following link to find such items: Maryland Law 

2. Check with the Maryland home improvement commission to insure the contractor is licensed and performing all of Maryland requirements. (for example, by law the maximum down payment any contractor can collect is 33% of the contract.) The link to the site is: M.H.I.C
